Privacy Policy

What Canto is

Canto is a personal reading companion. Your reading life is private by design — there are no public profiles, no social feeds, and no sharing of your data with other users.

What we collect

When you use Canto, we store:

• Your email address — used for authentication only
• Your library — books you add, reading status, and dates
• Your reflections — the responses you write and the AI-generated reflections Canto produces
• Reading context — optional notes you add about why you picked up a book
• App preferences — dark mode setting, subscription status

We do not collect your location, contacts, camera, or any data outside the app.

How it's stored

All data is stored securely in Supabase. Your data is private to your account — no other user can access it. Data is transmitted over HTTPS.

AI processing

When you complete a reflection, your responses and reading history are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your personal reflection. This data is used solely to produce your reflection and is not used to train AI models.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your data
• We do not share your data with third parties for advertising
• We do not use affiliate links or commercial relationships that influence recommendations

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
