What Canto is

Canto is a personal reading companion app for iOS. By using Canto, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Your account

You must create an account to use Canto. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Canto accounts are personal and non-transferable.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Canto.

Canto+

Canto offers a paid subscription tier, Canto+, at $6.99 per month. Canto+ is billed monthly through Apple and auto-renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple ID. Cancelling stops future renewals; you retain access to Canto+ until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their standard policies.

Free features — including reflections — remain available without a subscription and will not be gated behind Canto+.

Your content

You own the content you create in Canto — your reflections, passages, and notes. By using Canto, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the service to you.

We do not use your content to train AI models. Your reading life is private by design.

AI-generated content

Canto uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate personalized reflections, insights, and recommendations. AI-generated content is produced for your personal use and reflection — it is not professional advice of any kind. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of AI-generated content for any particular purpose.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Canto for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the service
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Use the service to harm others

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent — all your data is removed.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Limitation of liability

Canto is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Canto after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
